Western Middle School, located on the Western side of Greenwich was built in 1963.  The immediate neighbor and property abutting an incinerator was in operation from 1938-1977-1978.  

 

Incineration continued operation 14-15 years after the school was built and did not halt burning untill 1977-1978.

April 2016 neighboring property owners hired a surveyor to test soil at the school to prove that toxins were in the ground here and not just Armstrong Court where there is denial of toxin existance.  Concerned Citizens submitted the results to the New Lebenon Building Committee minutes before they turned down a vote to test soil before placement of modulars.  These test results show the same contaminate footprint as the denial of Armstrong Court.  Lead and Arsenic over the CT DEEP threshold for remediation.  

 

Two months later, after discrediting the neighbors surveyors testing, June 2016 the Building Committee made the decision to test the soil and perform a phase I.  The soil testing came back elevated over the Direct Residential Critera for Arsenic yet straingly found no existence of lead.  

 

The problem with this testing was it was limited, to the area where modulars may or maybe not be placed for New Lebanon children who will be educated while their new school is being built, It should be noted that their school field will also need to undergo remedial action as Arsenic was foud within the soil, again on the Western side of town, showing 500 times over the DRC.

 

Do you, would you, as a parent feel safe with this partial testing?  If you were a homeowner in the area would you feel safe or comfortable about what you and your familiy are exposed to?  Is it possible that 20-30 years from now you, your children or the educators maybe plagued with cancer?
